New Jetta Owner: Leaking Fuel Injector Pump
« Reply #15 on: February 22, 2007, 08:19:13 am »
If you're reasonably mechanically-inclined, there's
a whole thread on the forum at www.vwdieselparts.com
It shows a complete tear-down of the injection pump,
with pictures,and seal replacement.

Although the Canadian Bosch people seem reluctant
to sell the gaskets kits, for these injection pumps,
you can get a complete kit (Bosch Part#DGK126)from
Bosch Diesel specialists in the U.S. Cost about $20US
I get my kits from a company in the States.
The guy I deal with is very helpful.

Your "leak" sounds like the "O"Ring between the
cast-iron head and the pump body.

Fairly common, not that difficult to fix. Just a little
fiddly to get the head back on.

Diesel Pump Fixed!
« Reply #16 on: February 26, 2007, 01:20:32 pm »
Hi all  :D

I'm a pretty happy camper now  :D

Now although I shelled out quite a bit $1660 plus    to NW (http://www.nwfuel.ca/about.htm) I have to say the final results were well worth it.

The car purrs now (if a diesel could ever purr). There're absolutely no leaks that I can see on my garage floor and lo and behold...there's power in abundance now! I bet I could beat that bus up the hilll with ease  8) I can't believe I'm actually cruising at 80 kmh at just 2,000 RPM! Previously, I could hardly even get up to 80!

I can't comment on the fuel economy yet, but I'm pretty sure it would be good. According to Gord at NW, my pump was badly worn and quite a bit needed to be done to refurbish it. As well, my timing belt was on too tight and the timing was off.

I've got before and after pixes of the pump and if anyone's interested, I'll post them.

Cheers!
