FMIC in A1 - options

I hope to soon have a 1.6 turbo diesel eninge in my mk1 the engine is from a mk2 GTD (I'm not sure if you guys got this exact model?) which was intercooled from the factory and mounted like this:

I don't have any of the plastic cowling for it and I'm not sure if it would even fit in a mk1 engine bay anyway, and I don't want to leave it mounted in that postion with out any heat sheilding from the engine or cold air ducting as provided by the factory mk2 setup

I'd like to use the factory intercooler if possible, so I'd like to see what other people have done with regards to space, size, positioning etc. of intercoolers in A1s

Thanks

thanks, thats great, just the sort of thing I was looking for. :D

I notice on yours that the pipe to the inlet manifold is fairly long - do you have any problems with increased lag?
