Is it possible to reverse mount a VP37, and how to?

first of all, as this is my first post I should introduce myself to the forum, I'm from Portugal, my actual project car is a 1984 golf mk2 "C" 1.6 TD (was 1.6D but a previous owner made a swap
)
I'v swapped the entire braking system, subframe, suspension and transmission from a VR6, ABS and EDC included.
now my doubt:
after seeing this post:
http://vwdiesel.net/phpBB/viewtopic.php?t=4496
I bought a 2.5TDI engine, and as Ill have to buy a lot of parts to rebuild it I was wondering if I could reverse mount the VP37.
I have the 1.9 and 2.5 pumps in front of me so:
the advance is simple to convert, Ill just unscrew the two lids on the bottom and swap the innards and the lids.
now the tricky part: the feed pump is reversable or Ill have to put the 1.9 one in the 2.5 body?
and the head? does it work in reverse or is it specifficaly designed to work clockwise or counterclockwise?
thanks

ok, I've dismantled de 1.9 tdi pump, now I realise that the head works either way, my only doubt is the feed pump, does anibody have a left rotating pump already open that can tell me how the feed pump is mounted? the 2.5TDI I have was too expensive to even consider opening it for now :S

The pump head run in only one direction.

For the pump core, ask Caddy in the French section, it had converted a pump ' ' R' ' for ' ' L'', but I do not know if that had been conclusive, need to drill a hole for a timing piston, and in stopping another. Behind the feed pump, surely that the design is different? would be necessary that you checks.

Thanks Named Tintin, but that head is different than mine, this is a 10mm one from a 1.9 tdi, its simetrical. the grooves line up perfectly, the filling groove sits right at the midlle of the delivery one. So the head should be no problem in this case.
I´m dismantling the timing right now (pump in my lap) to check those differences.
edit: WAS goind to open the timing port, its too tight and my torx driver is no more. :? going to buy a new one in the morning and continue with the investigation

You cannot take a right rotation head and put it in a pump which turns left.
The port on the end of the plunger are can be symetric, but the groove on the foot of the plungor is not correctly aligned, it is the mirror one of the other.
And the head it even, where the plunger enters, the filling port is not well aligned.
If you wants to modify, you must be precise with the 0.01mm for the plunger.

I've dismantled the pump again and now I see what you said, it really is different, and the cam countour isnt symetrical either.
there goes my idea of mounting the IP like the "normal" VW.
I dont like this design because the IP is driven by a belt that is on the end of the camshaft (which is longer than 1.9 ones).

I don't have the support for the pump, nor the "poulies" so as I am trying to fit this engine in a mk2 or mk3 golf I thought it would be easier to make it like the 1.9.
plus: I have a bare head from the 2.5, and a complete head from a gasoline 5 cylinder audi and was thinking about using the valves and camshaft. (I haven't yet measured them)
and I coulnt have the IP hanging off the end of the gasoline camshaft in that setup.
