01 Jetta TDI engine, automatic. Includes turbo (not warrantied). Engines are warrantied for 90 days. We warranty the long block. Accessories, such as oil pan, brackets, water pump, power steering pump, etc are included for your convenience only and are not warrantied.

$2,200.  cad of course...

what have other people payed for this type of motor?  do the power steering pumps have the same hookups for MK2 type engines???

Shop in Montreal, pretty much every big yard has TDI's in stock and you can sometimes snag a complete powertrain for under $2000 including trans. They are very common now and cars are going through the auction complete for well under $5k. You don't have to get something with high kms, just crashed write off. Be sure to check the block around the timing belt/engine mount bolts sometimes the mount broke off taking a chunk of the block with it...
Call around, most speak english.

wow $2000 for the engine & trans seems pretty decent...  if it was well maintained i'd consider the drive

the motor & trans are located in London ON.  not a bad drive if its in good condition & relatively low km's.

anyone know how much I can sell the trans for? I'm thinking about $200-300 and that it would go pretty quick since nobody wants to rebuild them.. just buy used ones :)

So, is this you selling it or someone selling to you? Does it come with any of the electrical goodies?

i could probably talk my way into getting the harness & ecu... for a bit of extra money maybe... they will obviously be tearing down that car and selling it piece by piece.

well i signed up for this recycle thing online... gives my email to scrappers who have what i need.  i placed an ad for a 2001 tdi engine.  got a few responses already.  $2200 for the complete TDI motor and trans.

Okay now the guy found me a '98 or '99 TDI for $1600!!!!  turbo not included though... i'm emailing him back to see if it comes with the tranny or not...

Seems like a steep price if its just for the motor though... no telling how many km's are on that thing!

hmmm well that '99 TDI motor for $1600 is just the engine.  no alternator, power steering pump, starter, or transmission. AND no turbo hmmmm

will the mk2 alternator & p/s pump fit on this motor???

I'd hold out till they could find you something more or less complete. You're looking to do an m-TDI, right? I don't think the PS pump from a MKII would work. I doubt the alternator would either.

Good news though, you don't need to run PS on a TDI engine. You just get the serpentine belt from a non-a/c, non-p/s polo and you're golden.
