I know someone who actually got to a million kms on his 93 Golf TD. Actually he got to 950000 the crank bolt loosened off and I dont need to say anymore than that. But after a few valves and a set of guides and lifters he was back on the road again. Thats the only inside work ever done on the engine and he has owned it since new. VW is giving him a ceremony and certificate but thats it. And he lives in Fort Francis too!!

Couple years ago a local taxi driver got up to 600,000 or so on one of the first Hybrid Toyotas. Toyota swapped him for a new one and sent the old one back to Japan to disect.
Some Greek taxi drive had 3.4 million on a Mercedes 240d, and Mercedes swaped him for a new diesel, put the 240d in a museum.
I haven't heard of VW doing same.

Nice to see all these high numbers, It should help sell my parents on a diesel
I'm at 441xxx kms. I've owned it for 20 000 and the only trouble it's given me is the coolant pipe rotted out yesterday on the way to work

Mine's fast approaching 160,000 miles (257,500km). The engine & turbo are still original but the gearbox has been replaced with one of unkown mileage (but thought to be about 90,000 miles).
There was a courier driver in the UK in a 1.6 non-turbo that covered 1 million miles. IIRC the oil was changed every 4000 miles.

Hi the frankenbunny curently has about 260000 miles. I'vs got a 100+ miles commute 5-6 days a wk from valley of the moon to treasure island. some times thru marin and san fran-( refered to as "never-never land" and "fairyland") and sometimes thru richmond and oakland (refered to as " the shooting gallery" or " beirut"( the cops probaly call it "bagdad" now  ) and "africa" ) so you can see that I've got the longest commute of anybody on this board !! same engine and tranny.

My 97 has 6200 on it... maybe that's 300k short I don't know.
Oh ya, and how's it treating me... great considering that I beat it like it's stolen, and rarely change the oil...

My Jetta has 446,830 miles or 719,103 km. On I think the second engine. I think the previous owner poorly rebuilt the orginal engine, then I transported a diesel engine out of a Rabbit I wrecked. That engine has about 230,000 miles or 370,149 km. Runs good. I am not getting that great of mileage. Only 33 mpg or 53 km per US gallon. But this is with 90% city driving.
