What is that?
« on: January 08, 2007, 09:53:15 pm »
I'm working on a '91 ECO Jetta, and found some kind of a bottle with a cap on the bottom, behind the right rear tire after the fuel tank. I looked in the Bentley and found nothing. If you unscrew it a little, fuel will come out. Is it another water seperater or what. Any help would be great.

  Thanks

BEHIND the RR tire?

There is a water seperator IN FRONT of the RR tire on most Jettas including my '91 TD.  Pretty much underneath the RR passenger seat.  A squarish jug with a big knob/cap and drain spout.

Drain it into a clear jar to check for water or until the water stops coming out.  It has a water sensor that will blink the glowplug light if it is tripped.  It will blink the light constantly if it is fried, you can disconnect it from inside trunk behind the tank sender access panel.
