Will the T3 turbo from a 1.6TD bolt right onto the 1.9 AAZ exhaust manifold?

It will bolt to K14 exhaust manifold (4 bolts), will not to K03 manifold (3 bolts).

Just keep in mind that it is a little more involved than just bolting up the turbo...you will have to grind off part of the intake manifold and you will need to fabricate a different oil return line!!

I've been wondering about this since I have 2 T'3's in stock, and my k14 looks like it's starting to lose a little oil. Can you avoid the manifold grinding by using a 1.6 manifold? Or are you further ahead with the 1.9 manifold? How bad is the line fab? Will th 1.6 line work, or do I start from scratch? I've been thinking I should put the T3 on my 1.9 (92 jetta) and ge tthe k14 gone through and put it on  my wife's 1.6 (92jetta) instead of the K24 it has now.....

The T3 is the best turbo for these engines IMHO. Yiu can use the 1.6 manifold, but the ports don't match really well. Just buck up and grind the intake to fit. It's worth the effort. As for the oil return, use the top from a 1.6 and the bottom from a 1.9 and splice them with a piece of hose. It's easy.
