I recently got my AAZ up and running in my 1.9. I rebuilt it and of course I put a new crank bolt. However when I went to stretch the bolt after torquing it, it would only stretch 1/8 of a turn. So I got it started and running, but just to be on the safe side I bought another bolt. Is it possible to zip the old bolt out and put the new one without retiming everything?

Whats preventing the old bolt from turning the extra 1/8 turn? Threads damaged,dirty or was it just that the engine was out of the car making it diffuclt to tighten up the bolt.Mabye now you can torque the old bolt with the engine in the car,I wouldn't hesitate torquing up the old bolt if the engine has only ran for a bit,But not for a day or 2.
The engine was completely rebuilt and cleaned top to bottom by my dad and I. The threads in the crank were nice and clean and the engine was in the car when we tried to stretch the bolt. See I put blue loc-tite on when the engine was out of the car and just wanted to get the engine timed, but I think the loc-tite kind of screwed things up because it will not stretch for anything past the 1/8 turn that we barely got it already.

Better replace the bolt in that case for sure! Because there is locktic on the threads now I would recomend pulling the balancer/sproket to clean the old locktite out.You don't want the new bolt to bottom out on the old locktite preventing it from torquing properly!
