my ip on my 87ish td is leaking from where the pully shaft comes out the pump am i screwed? i have removed the pump to confirm the leak location i havent started the engine yet im finishing a td swap in an 81 cabby someone else started and as soon as i got fuel to the pump it began pouring out with no pressure??? grrrrr

There is a seal there but as far as I know if it has gotten to the stage that it's leaking, once you pull the pump off you may find that the bush/bearing is worn and thats whats caused the seal to go.
But, unless you look....

yea i took it off and its definately that seal,,, i found a thread in the archives that was fairly good about how to take it out and replace it so my next step is i think to check out the diesel shop to find a seal or rebuild kit....
