greetings all,
i have a little question here that i hope someone can help with: does the big cast iron mounting bracket for the alternator sit directly on the coolant pump or are there some special bolts with spacers that hold it off slightly? this is for a 1.6 na diesel with no power steering or A/C. i've seen something like this on a 2.0l gasser in the wrecking yard but forget how mine goes as it's been so long since i pulled it apart! the bracket seems to fit fine right on top of the coolant pump perfectly, but when i attach the alternator it's pulley seems to be just slightly out of it's ideal plane and the mount for adjusting the v-belt tension has to be tweaked slightly towards the pulley end of the motor to fit! hmm.. maybe just old bent up parts and no biggie. anyway, if anyone can tell me how this all mounts up i'd sure appreciate it!
the bolts that hold the pump on also hold the bracket on
the bolts that hold the pump on also hold the bracket on
thanks, i got that part... my question is whether or not some spacers or washers should be in between the bracket and pump or should the bracket sit directly on the pump?
as i remember it sat right against it. i am 99% positive that's how it goes, to be honest i am 100% but you know lol. it wouldn't make a difference anyways. since the pulley would still line up with all the others
Yeah it sits right on the WP
cool, thanks you guys... not sure why my alt seems a bit tweaked, but i can't see it really being a problem.
