How's my mileage?
« on: November 29, 2006, 04:40:52 pm »
Over the last 3 tanks I averaged 42 US MPG. I have my winter tires installed and am using C-tire fuel conditioner with each tankfull.

What's everyone else averaging for this time of year in Canada?

This is for my 92 TD jetta

i usually do around 40 year around no matter how or where i drive, but i've never had a nice trip on the highway where i could take it easy, when i drove to h20 i had to follow someone and i didn't know the way so i went 75-80 the whole way and still did 40...

After finishing my entire front end other than bushings and motor mounts, and stock tires I am avering over 1000 K  a tank,  with city and highway milleage.   Mostly city lol this is the best milleage I have seen in a while.

less traction of course,  now I roast 1 and chirp second on dry, but with my foot with restraint I make good milleage.

Also changed my rear wheel bearings both sides.....

I cant spin my tires if I tried :). What's done to your car?

Oh and I've been averaging 36-38mpg steady. I'm hoping I'll push past the 40mpg mark when I get a trans with a taller 5th gear.

Remember thest are 13" tires with all season tread,  not alot,  Governor Mod thanks to SmokeyDub  and Boost increase to 22 lbs,  open  exhaust,  Passat Rad fan,  stock clutch ( which is dying).

I need to Turn up my fuel and put an Intercooler on,  right now when I go I see a little bit of smoke but that cut's off when my turbo reaches high boost.

Right now I'm baybing it but when ever I see a rice Honda,  like today for instance I give em a rip.

This car is slow though,  but it has alot of go power and it's damn efficient.   Right now I'm trying to limit the beatings and keep my temps done on the motor to keep away from blow bye.

I get around 37-39. I drive around nicely most of the time. But a couple times a drive I'll give it just to feel the engine. (love it)  Our engine has to give one of the most unique feels out there!

Edit:37-39 US MPG :)

In my 97 Jetta (1.9TD) I'm getting about 42 US MPG or 50 IMP MPG. It's down slightly (was getting 53-55), but I suspect that's due to the colder weather and winter fuel.

Oh yeah, running Kleen-Flo conditioner.

In my 1.9, I get ~40-45mpg. I'm happy with that, because I tend to have a heavy foot. In gas cars that normally get 30-35 MPG I usually get 20-25.

Depending on my driving, I have gotten a little more, and a LOT less.

In my old 1.6 NA, I saw 45 pretty consistently.

There is a local bulls#itter who just rebuilt his 1.6TD and claimed he was getting 58mpg wight away, and that he's now getting 60+ mpg. Drives me bonkers.

hehe you know i would believe 60+ mpg.  but you would have to keep the rpm's below 2500.   like that would ever happen!

right now with my leaky injection pump i got around 400km on a tank with about 1/4 left to spare. easily go another 100km.  on a leaky friggin pump! haha! installing a new pump soon though... we will see how good she works then! :)

when i rebuild my 1.6td i hope to get around 50mpg at least.  i suspect that with my taller gearing i can reach 55-60mpg driving 100km/h.

The only time I'm above 2500 is when I'm on the highway, and then it's usually at 2750. I shift around 2400 in most gears.  :(

I disconnected the hose that goes from the manifold to the LDA, I'll see how this tank and the next one holds up. It makes quite a differance I'd have to say.
