Oh. I didn't know that.
I had envisioned getting engulfed
in a Kafkaesque bureaucratic nightmare
at the Ontario Motor Veh. Dept.
I bought the car, a year ago, originally, just for the
TD engine, but I've been considering fixing it up
as the body's really not that bad. (Not welded
together with angle iron)
Three or four months ago, I did a couple of
Carfax and Carproof searches, on the VIN Numbers,
as well as a CAA search a couple of weeks ago.
It's all clear. No problems. I just don't have the
ownership for it and the previous owner has moved
out West to Vancouver.
It's basically a running car that just needs some
repairs (nothing radical) So, I'm not sure it would
fall within the OMV definition of a "Rebuild".
I would be reluctant to, knowingly, swear out an Affidavit
which might not be entirely true. (A serious criminal offence
and an automatic 5 years in the slammer).
I think that I might just take what I want, from it, and
send the body to the crusher, or still look around for a
TD body with a clear title, that's headed for the
scrapyard.
In the interim, should you elect to part the car out,
I'd be happy to buy the title and VIN numbers, from you
and show you the "Bill of Sale" and the above mentioned
reports on the car as well as photographs of the car
the P.O. gave me, so you will know that it's all
quite above board.
Assuming you've read this far, thank you for putting
up with all my whining.
