fuel pump leak
« on: June 04, 2006, 11:43:27 pm »
Hi all,

the fuel pump of my AAZ is leaking a little bit from a vent covered with a plastic cap with an extension that looks like a pipe. The vent is on the right top side of the pumpm just between the inlet for the small pipe coming from the turbo and the outlet for the fuel return lines. Does anyone know what this vent does and if there will be any negatives if I plug it so it doesn't leak any more?

I think it's been leaking for a while though it's only a few drops. I am afraid that the diesel will start eating away the rubber cooling hoses...I went to a diesel shop and they want to replace all the seals in the pump, which seems to me over the top, considering the vent itself seems easy to remove.

Any advice is much appreciated...Thanks in advance.
