loosing boost pressure help!
« on: November 10, 2007, 01:00:47 pm »
I recently installed a cheapo boost controller from flea-bay! i  have it turned all the way in! it reaches 13to14p.s.i. compared to when it's stock 6to7p.s.i.
the question is! is the wast gate opening up on me or is the b.o.v. making it not hold the higher boost? I did a search i know it's here but i could not find it! so anybody got some advice to share to remedy this problem?
thanks Duane

The BOV will open somewhere around 11-12 psi... so if you want to go higher you'll need to disable the BOV.

Quite a few threads here and www.vwdieselparts.com about disabling the BOV.

he's reaching 13-14 psi though...  maybe the BOV is stuck?  either way if you can only get 13-14 with a K24 then something is wrong...

You might be right.   As far as I know the BOV is not a particularly precision device, nor are typical boost gauges... it could just be normal variances.
