yup!
i finally snapped some photos of the bus, this is from sunday afternoon:
58,000 original miles!!
this is the first order of business:
a lot of surface rust under here, no major rot:
So; any update? How's it coming along?
Last weekend, my b/f replaced the starter, finished the complete brake system on ours as well as removed the old heater boxes. Then my dad and I washed it and took it for a spin down the road. Man, it was nice to be in a Bus again!
Wow, nice find. I drove one almost identical to it when I worked at a dealership in the late 60s. Kinda dates me, doesn't it?
ya know...if I had unlimited funds Id have more cars then Jay Leno. One (if not more) would be a micro bus.
nice diesel in there, some HID's and she would be a site too see

hey scully. have only spent one day working on it so far... i ended up buying a house so that is my priority right now, renovating. (some of you were there for a GTG when i was renting it).
got some H4s from my old GTI in the bus and all the front lights are working. almost there in the back. most of a camper interior is in... OG westy, 1966. got the passenger side brakes apart, cleaned, adjusted, and back together. they were done just before i bought the bus but i wanted to go over them.. still plan to fit stainless lines. little odds and ends... the big tasks are finishing up electrical (rear lights, horn), getting the windshields and the one remaining side window in, new rims/tires, and repairing the holes in the body so it will pass safety in time for may 20th weekend.
thanks for all the comments guys. i still plan to make this thing a 1.6 or 1.9 TD IDI but the 1500cc gas engine is running too well for me to pull it out right now with so much else to do on the bus. i hope she'll be blastin soot by the end of this coming winter, or next. not in a huge rush.

heh heh. i've always wanted one of these, i found a reasonably clean one, within 8 hrs drive, within my budget if i sold my 1981 VW caddy (which i did), and not only is the bus a great replacement hauler, but a classic camper.
So it's November now; any updates on the Bus?
I was at Shawn's today and we were talking about you and your plans for a Diesel Splitty!
My Bus and Rabbit are asleep now for the Winter
.
hey scully.
i went back to school and it turns out yr 2 is friggin tough. been up to my eyeballs in math physics and math so i haven't touched the bus. we've bombed around town in it loaded up with rowdies... cleaned out some junk in the yard... taken camping... even though its still rough around the edges its served me well so far.
i'll get back to that if this advanced applied mechanics course eases up  assignment due tomorrow been kickin my ass all afternoon.....
hope all is well with you scully, i'm sure you'll see the bus out sometime over next summer. state of repair yet to be determined! cheers.
