now the thing won't start!!!! help?

i've been following this thread:

i got to # 3 of the fuel adjustment. i believe that while i was tweaking with the fuel adjuster, the car stalled. my guess was that i turned it too low and the car stalled.
when i turned the screw back the opposite direction and tried to start the car, it won't turn over.
i fiddled with the screw, in both directions, in an attempt to get it back to the its stock config setting, but still can't get the car going.
is it possible to have the it turned too low and not know it? could i have flooded the engine? could it be too high (is there such a thing?)

if anyone could offer any advice, it would be greatly appreciated!

Have you knocked the wire from the stop solenoid?

if it won't turn over, as in the starter doesn't do anything, then the problem has nothing to do with your injector pump

your best bet is to hotwire it from the battery by using jumper cables (be very careful.. dont short anything out here!)

if it turns over, obviously it has something to do with the ignition wiring, or something in the engine compartment even.   The motor should not start so dont think it should... unless maybe ur solenoid is stuck on  :lol:

this will let you know if the starter is actually good or not  always check the easiest thing first!

If it does turn over but not 'ignite' or even sputter, then it could be that there isn't enough fuel, or fuel isn't getting to where it is needed.  Definitely check the stop solenoid, and a good indicator should be little bubbles in the return line going to the filter/tank.

the thing is - the car was running. i was adjusting the fuel, i thought that i might have turned it too low, therefore causing it to stall. when i re-adjusted the fuel to (what i thought) allow more fuel, then restart it, i got nothing - well, not nothing, it cranks, just won't turn over - like it doesn't have any fuel.
now - regardless of how i adjust the fuel, i can't get that little bugger to start.
i'm not too mechanically inclined, but i'm not an idiot - so if anyone has any more input, i would dying to get this thing going.

i have left it sit for a few days, i was a little too frustrated to go out and work on it.
so today - i went out to take a peek. i tried starting it, and of course - it won't turn over.
but i noticed that the glowplug light didn't light up. that's very unusual for my car.
before i started tweaking the fueling, i was trying to get a glowplug out, unsuccessfully.
the car started after i was done fiddling with the glowplug, so i didn't think that i had done anything to it - but now i'm curious to know why the light won't even come on.
might that affect the car starting?

any help would be greatly appreciated.

Sounds like more of a glow plug issue to me.The engine is turning over properly right (starter works).Did you end up replacing or checking any glow plugs?Did you unplug any of the coolant temp sensors near the glow plugs?If you had the wires of the glow plugs then possibly they touched ground causing the glow pulg fuse to blow.Just throwing some ideas out there.

Wait :idea:  possibly you've blown the stop solinoid fuse located in the fuse pannel.Check this first!! I've blown this fuse a numerous times while adjust fueling with engine running or key on.when playing with the 13mm locknut Its easy to hit the solinoid's terminal causing the fuse to blow.

you could very well be correct about the stop solinoid fuse!! i may have tapped the terminal with my wrench when tweaking the fueling. is this one of the fuses located inside the engine compartment? do you happen to remember what # of fuse i might need?

Something has been feeding on my mind for the last few years, the definition of "turn over". In my vocabulary, "turn over" and "crank" are synonomous, they both indicate that the starter operates and rotates the engine.

 If it won't "turn over", then I (and most others) would assume that when the key is turned nothing happens, the starter fails to operate and the engine does not rotate.

 To simplify and speed troubleshooting perhaps it's best to say "it cranks but fails to start", as somewhere along the way the phrase "turn over" seems to have taken on some new meaning that isn't entirely clear to me (or many others?).

I've been reviewing my Bentley - and I can't find the solenoid fuse.

Can anyone else offer some input?

Well if you think the solenoid fuse is the blame, connect 12v to it directly from the battery and try and start the car. That'll eliminate that as the problem anyways.
