Gonna remove AC compressor

All I've done to make this work is replace the pulley on water pump with tdi (1z) pulley. And of course tdi belts both power steering and alternator belts. This is on my 1.9 AAZ motor witch uses wide belt instead of v belt on alternator. I don't know if 1,6 motors with ac uses wide belts or v belt...? But its sweeet to get rid of that old chunk of ac compressor.

The 1.6L uses v-belts.... Sounds like I need to do some
rummaging at the local salvage yard.... and maybe my
bentely book has belt configuratations for all the cars
to look at........
Yeah, the 1.6l blet config is kind of lame.... granted
space is an issue... but the alternator ... with ac
ends up not running of the crank shaft pully. it
piggy backs of the ac unit....... if the ac belt breaks
then the alt doesn't spin either....
kind of a hoakie set up if you ask me. 8)

Here's a link to a post with a few of us trying to figure this out:

I got to keep the 90 amp alternator, grinding the bracket a little so the alternator would roll down lower and use a shorter belt.
I moved the place the adjuster bolts to by bolting a curved bracket (from a '91 Golf) to the alternator and ended up using an alternator pully from '93 -'95 ford truck... I think.
Tornado red, '91 Golf 4 door, with M-TDI 12mm pump, south bend clutch, VNT-15 turbo, 02A trany

'84 Rabbit with 1.7TD KY block pistons bored to 80mm, VNT-15
'84 GTI with stock 1.6TD starion intercooler.
