• He just got this, the turbo was poorly chosen though as it only makes 5 PSI when the car is way wound up. I do live at 6,200 feet, but something is not right, the turbo is tiny in size, maybe the wastegate linkage needs adjusted, maybe it needs more fuel (it doesn't smoke at all) or maybe the AR is just way wrong. It does have an EGT gauge and boost gauge, the EGT is very slow to respond though I couldn't see if the probe was pre or post turbine. Here are some pics.

• Yeah I have seen those, they are pretty sweet, no idea what turbo is on there but that intake manifold is way better than the stock TD manifold. That is a NA pump with a LDA like feature , it turns inthe fuel screw with boost pressure.

    It might be frighening if it actually increased fueling  :lol:
  
    I have only driven a few old IDIs, but this one doesn't feel any faster that the last 1.5 NA Dasher I drove here at altitude, this one also doesn't smoke at all, ever, nothing. I gave him links to smog's "make your 1.9 TD faster" thread and a few others so he can add some more fuel and see what the boost does then. I was under the car today and the EGT probe is pre-turbine   but the highest he has seen it is 800* F, how hot do these run in stock form?  And the wastegate is held closed fairly firmly by the actuator so that isn't the source of the low boost issue.
  
     It is a NA block, so no piston squirters, but it seems like such a waste to have boost only come on above 3000 RPM (no tac, just guessing on RPM), and then it SLOWLY climbs to ~5 PSI, which is enough to make it not smoke at high altitude, but it sure would be nice to have that 5 PSI at 1,700- 2,000 RPM.

• No unfortunately not, I almost bought a 1980 caddy up here in washington state about 6 months ago that had this same setup on it. Went to go check it out, agreed on a price, went to go get a deposit and came back an hour later and the truck was sold :evil:  The seller was a total deuchebag. That intake manifold is pretty sweet though, plenum is too small for high RPM/boost/flow but its better than stock, and its just a sweet looking unit. The fuel detail on it was hella sketchy, looked just like that one :shock:

• Did the one you checked out have a boost gauge? Did the car have much extra power over stock?

  No boost gauge and the power was mediocre at best.

• I have a old SPEARCO setup for a dasher..
  Planning on running it on my baja bug once i get around to making the TD swap.  
  
  the blue anodized boost enrichment device was a BOSCH part number if I remember correctly..  mine has NEVER been installed was in the glovebox of the donor dasher..  paid $450 15yrs ago.. thought it was sweet deal, but then felt sour for the $$.. today generally happy with the $investment$.  
  
  fit fine in my Quantum TD after I pulled the TD for my vanagon conversion, but wasn't as powerful as my QTD.  
  
  I'll see if I can dig out my 'device' and snap some fotos..
  
  i'd also like some closer detailed images of this installed one.. as guidance for mine.. when the time comes..
