I just drove an '05 GMC Sierra with the duramax diesel engine. OMFG the torque from that motor makes my pee-pee feel funny. It got me to thinking, would I have any chance of making my 1.6TD feel that way? The pull was simply addicting.

I drove one of the new Jeep Liberty CRD's the other week.   Wow!   Imagine as much power as a Jetta TDI, but in a giant boat of an SUV instead of a little car.  I really don't understand why everyone hates diesels for being slow....   (well, okay, all of mine are, but 20 year old 4 cylinder gas cars aren't that fast either)

i agree, my cars not particularly fast, it only runs low-mid 16's, so alot of cars can beat me, but there is no other car from the 1981 that you can 3 adjustments on and shave like 2 seconds off of it, plus what other 4 cylinder car from 1981 can run a 16 haha  the turbo cars from then were barely doing 16s

actually the vw direct injection engines of the 80's were very easily adjusted.    extremely bad for fuel economy, but they go mad fast after a bit of timing and fuel distribution tweaks

yea my mechanic knows them cars so well.  with a few mods he did (all in about 5 minutes or so) the car was just eating everything on the streets (and my wallet)

must have turned a 100 hp engine to around 130 or possibly higher...  and the car being a golf... made it a bit of a sleeper!

gasoline direct injection... ahhhh...  the german airplanes had fuel injection... wonder if it was direct injection...

Um, I dont know any older VW gassers that had direct injection- my Scirocco is mechanically fuel injected, and yes the injectors are in the head, but they are not direct-injected.  Other than the pancake engines, VW only had 2 basic head designs from the 70-s on up, and none of them were direct-injected.  Perhaps you are thinking of something else?
