WTB: Diesel Rabbit (in Ontario) :-)
« on: October 03, 2004, 07:10:25 pm »
I am looking for a Diesel Rabbit in good shape with less than 250k kms. Should be as rust-free as possible and run.
This is a car that I will be converting to run on SVO.
Around $2500 or less.
Thank you :)

Thanks :) I'll keep you in mind if I don't find anything, but Quebec is pretty far from Stratford ON (or are you the crazy guy who drove 7-8 hours for the Dorchester GTG??? ;).)

No, I'm not.

It's been a year since I've been to a GTA GTG... :(

Anyway, a diesel pickup is rare enough to come this way to purchase... :D

took me 15 months to find a rust-free rabbit diesel in ontario. worth the wait.....but i'd sooner jump on an opportunity 8 hours away. although... i'm often told to be weary of buying a quebec car..........

Whadda ya mean? They don't flog 'em that hard... :D

Truthfully though, I really enjoy driving in Montreal. Motorists there drive with speed and purpose, unlike the frustrating yokels around here that seem to have no place special to go...

well there is that... but also apparently they dont track vehicle history as well there, and when a car comes here from QC, the vehicle history is erased, or something to that effect...could get a lemon that seems like a winner.

If the car is 20 years old, you gotta know whacha buying...

For sure it won't be in great shape, it'll be rusty at some places, that's the price to pay....

Thanks guys :) I've owned Rabbits before so know what I'm looking for and yes, I'm willing to wait for the right one to come along ;) I know they are out there since I just found 3 (that had been sold immediately) :( but at least they exist! ;)
Ideally, I would like a Rabbit PICKUP! but I know how rare *that* is! ;)
Thanks anyway, and let me know if you find anything closer to home (for me that is ;)).

You might want to check out the TDIclub want ads.  There is a guy 'Master Cylinder' that has a 4 door Rabbit.  He was only asking $300.  It doesn't have an engine, but the body work is rust free, and he said only 72 k miles.  He is in Brighton MI, maybe 20-30 minues west of Detroit.

If you get a wild hare and want to drive to Missouri, I've got one for sale.  Very little rust and looks pretty good(I can email pictures) and I would listen to any decent offers.  It has the 1.6 diesel with a 4-speed.
Thanks

My friend, it's the same for the cars coming for your province. And, before the licence plate, you must make the car inspected by the so "cool" guys from the SAAQ, the mandatory of the DOT.

It's hard to transfer title from Quebec to Ontario or Ontario to Quebec.  My brother did it.  Took him a long time and he had problems, but eventually he managed it.
88 Jetta TD....sold for $1000, bought an 06 Cobalt, clearing out the diesel jetta stuff now
