Im thinking of replacing my 1600td from my T25 with a 1900td from a mk3 golf. what problems if any will I have?
how easy is it to find one of these engines? how much do the cost? I have a 1.6 with a blown head gasket wouldn't mind swapping a newer engine instread of taking this one apart
Depending where you live they can be near impossible or easy to find. I know of one for sale semi-locally selling for $1500 with tranny. I've also seen them for sale at $400 :twisted: .
From my understanding a 1.9 IDI is just a bored and stroked 1.6 so other then swapping around the motor mounts there should be no problems, until the tranny explodes (depending how you drive)
Make sure you check your crank pulley and swap it if you have the early style.
