need springs- anybody know where to get 'em?
« on: September 03, 2006, 04:26:28 pm »
anyone know where I can buy a set of oem front coil springs?  Everything I've found has been a lowering spring, and I don't want to lower my vehicle.  I'd take aftermarket as long as they maintain the stock ride height.  I'd even be interested in a used set in decent condition.  Thanks.

Parts Place in MI has standard springs fairly cheap, and booster springs (for the MKII's) that gave an inch or so of lift.

Any auto parts store should be able to order original type springs for your car, unless you've got something REALLY unusual.

thanks mac.  Never heard of them, but I requested a catalog.  My local parts store says they can get them, but it'll take weeks and I don't really want to wait that long.

deadcaddy,

I hope these guys are better to deal with by mail order because I really dont care for them, but they do have pretty much everything. you can view the online catalog and I am looking at them its page 78 of their online catalog. call them up and get a price. good luck with them.

They've been around for years & years but , yes, to be fair I should mention I've heard good AND bad dealings with them. I've bought in person & never had a problem, and their prices were fair, but make SURE they fully understand what you want before it ships.

I think part of the problem is they're too busy. I waited in line quite a while & they were rushing around.

I bought a new set from Willi and Karls Service Centre in Sarnia, ON.  They specialize in VW repairs.  They get them from a place in London, ON and I had them in two days.  Pair of front coils cost $90.74 including taxes.
