How do you know it is "loosing" it from the res if you can't find any leak?  Mine leaks from a hole in the pump that was put there by someone's hammer before I owned it.  Someone was probably trying to get an old belt off.

yea I would say that the leak is coming from a high pressure part of the system (either the pump, or the hose)

The low pressure lines should never leak, and even if they do it would be very minute, and be cheap to fix.

shwartzbewithyou when i have the bonnett up and i rev the engine after a few seconds i get fluid out of the breather,so the system is building pressur

also at low revs the steering is really heavy so i think the pump in buggered.

could possibly be the belt.  At low revs the belt is more likely to slip.  my pump is in great shape and has almost 400'000km on it

You get fluid out of the breather?  This is probably one of those things where your idea of a breather is different than my idea of a breather.

hmmmm the belt would only squeal while the pump was in 'demand' mode. such as turning.   Get someone to go turn the steering wheel while you check the pump.  The pump could definitely be buggered though :( and they aren't that cheap.
