just to make sure of what i am seeing...
i have an oil leak from the seal of the valve train to the block itself, the head gasket. as far as i can tell there is not oil in the radiator but it is leaking 1 quart per 500 miles and not smoking out the back. the compression is 350psi in piston 3&4 not sure about 1&2 due to the pain of getting a compression guage in there.
the other question i have is, is it worth having the head rebuilt and re-ringing the pistions when it was running fine and does run fine once it starts(well minus the oil blowing all over the firewall

). the engine has 90,000 miles on it but was sitting for 4+ years before i stuck it into my Jetta.
Finally should i go with the standard 1.6 gasket or try to find a metal gasket i keep hearing about?
so far i have owned this car 1 year and only have been able to drive it 4 months, lol so much for the $200 car that will make my life perfect, with over $2200 in it now when do i say that is enough and just sell it and start over with a new TDI?
