VW cluster foil (PCB)
« on: July 05, 2025, 03:30:18 pm »
I have swapped an ahu into my mk2. First, I used a ce2 cluster with clock, then I wanted rev counter but didn't want to put mk3 cluster in cause it looks "unnatural" to me.

I have 2 CE1 clusters with rev counter, one had good foil, so I used that for testing, then made an adapter from CE1 cluster to CE2 fuse box, not very complicated if you have connectors and a CE2 resource site.

Next problem I encountered was the rev counter itself, tdis 5000 rpm was 1500 on the counter
So i opened it up and found the rev counter resistor that was 22k ohms, started multiplying and found that 200k Ohms was the best fit, and voila, I got pretty close reading.

Tried fine-tuning it a few times, and of course, the foil started breaking, and I kept losing gauges and lights from all the assembly and disassembly.

I have found a few guys who have deleted PCB foil and used just wires and round connectors, maybe someone has guides or wiring diagrams of the PCB board, because I'm not trying to spend 100€ for used or new PCB foil.
