I don't see them either. Thought they were just taking too long to load.
 Is the brake proportioning valve the kind that's mounted in the engine bay or near the rear wheel?

yep, with a spring that pulls on the valve relative to load/stance. it had a number in the casting that didn't return any info

the part number for the proportioning valve is 811614151.

Your TDI must be nice but my 1.5D is loud, slow and smokes just enough charcoal:
