Where were you with this three weeks ago?  I had to order one from Parts Place in MI.

You should put a price on this otherwise we will be asking for that.  It cost me about 90 bucks to send my core back to MI.  It had the cam in it so a bit more weight.

You shouldn't have trouble selling it.

Updated w price, thank you!

Sorry I missed you, sir. I literally just got it yesterday.

Whats happened to the 1.6 world? I feel like there isn't a whole heck of a lot going on. Makes finding parts easy but dang.

Well if you just got it I can feel better about buying the one I did.  I needed to get the pickup back up and running and a new head was as costly as having mine sent out and rebuilt.  The difference was I could replace the old with the new and be up and going in a couple of days, not weeks.

Not sure if 1.6 heads are that available anymore.  When I was talking to the rebuilder in Portland he mentioned that if I had those single-groove valves in my head I would have to find some because he does have a supplier for them anymore.

Mine happened to be single-groove so I am glad I just sent that away as my core and let Parts Place deal with it.

The truck is running but I noticed one injector pooping along on start-up so I guess I will be pulling those and pop testing in the morning.

I guess the heads are the weak spot, aren't they. If its not the precups cracking, its between the valves and apparently the cams too have short lifespans. Something about the hardening being thin, as per someone on tdiclub.

I do have some NOS 1.6 valves. Along with guides I think. I think also buckets. I have a NOS cam but it came on a new head that had the cam caps swapped with AAZ ones....grrrr. I have to find ones that work with it.

Do you need standard 1.6 diesel cam caps?  I have a set off the head I couldn't send back as a core.  It was not rebuildable.  I stripped out everything of value and will sell the block as aluminum scrap someday.

I could use some to choose from when I get to working on it. Its a hydraulic 1.6 head, I think NA but i don't know. Although i don't think that makes a difference in this case.

As far as valves go when i opted to replace sets of single groove valves the 3 groove valves changed out with no issue on both 1.5l and 1.6l heads.  But i might have mis-read the post about the Portland rebuilder.
