Those Parts Place folks are just terrible!!!!

I was told they would be getting another head in for me in 2-3 weeks.  It has been over 4 and so I sent them an Email asking about the status of said head.

Crickets, they place exports crickets.

And to think I could have bought an entire engine up the coast for 500 bucks but didn't.  The guy that did buy it is advertising it for 1,000 now.

Crap.

How much did they charge you for that head?
I bought some pistons from this place in germany:

Took six days to get them.
I see they have new heads.
Catch them on a day when the euro is low.

I think the Parts Place head was 549.  But they now have my old head which they say they will charge me 250 bucks if I didn't get it to them in 30 days.  Add to that the near 100 bucks I spent on shipping to get the old head to them, and I am into them for close to 900.  Getting it out of them is never going to happen as far as I can tell.

Not a real big fan of them now or ever been.  They have a flashy catalog, and they talk about their products like they are gold. But to get them to service an old problem like mine.  Well, they are like lead instead.

I have been walking past my pickup on ramps for so long I don't even see it anymore.  Sucks to have a broken-down truck I know how to fix if I just had the right parts and two good days of weather.

I've never liked PP because they don't use vw part numbers on their website, like they don't want you shopping around.

I have to rank PP worse than prothe for sure.
Lots of first-hand horror stories. In fact it's been awhile since I've heard of anyone having a good experience with them.

I've bought stuff from prothe and never had a problem,..
well they forgot to send the corrado brake master in my latest order and I had to remind them.
But it got here quick after that.
Prothe's MK2 manual steering rack boot is extra thin but still works.

Today I called Parts Place to see what is going on with my replacement head.

They do not have and have not had an 11 mm core come in that they can rebuild for me and send to me.

I asked for a full refund on my order.  They said sorry for the problems we will get you the refund ASAP.

I think I started this head fix back in March.  The truck has been sitting for so long the rotors are rusting.  I sure hope I can build up the one I am getting from Oblique and get that pickup back to running status.

The case with PP is closed, but the case with VW not running is still open.
