AAZ Vanagon overheating

(1/2) > >>

boukrev:
I put an AAZ in my vanagon with a new radiator for a vanagon and it overheats driving it. The van is originally a diesel and did not overheat with the original engine and replaced the radiator due to the original leaking. What are the others with this setup doing differently? I have the engine mounted in the original diesel hardware ie mounts on a diesel bellhousing. I have bled the air and filled up the coolant and ensured the oil is up to full and it just won’t stay cool under load. Any suggestions would be great, it also has a Giles rebuild on the injection pump

With the coolant reservoir cap off,
how does the flow through the little hose look?

libbydiesel:
When you say it is 'overheating' what do you mean by that?  Are you getting coolant boiling over at the engine?  What is the level in the pressure tank when it is happening?  What is the level in the overflow tank at the license plate?  What is the gauge reading?  Is the LED blinking?

The Vanagon coolant routing does not have the little hose running to the reservoir like other models.

 Oh, thanks Andrew.
I thought I worked on one that did.
Good to see a post from you.
 Seems like it's been awhile.
