LR 200 Pump help.
« on: January 31, 2022, 02:15:55 pm »
Hello all,

Getting ready to start my ALH in a 97 sidekick build.

I just purchased a LR 200 pump. My question is about resealing the pump? Is this possible without having the pump calibrated? The pump is from a vehicle with 500000km on it. The seller said it was not leaking when removed from the vehicle. I just ordered a seal kit and throttle shaft/bushing kit.

Also my goal is 150hp with 764 nozzles and a gt2056v (controlled with digibooster & N75). Do I need to do anything else to the pump while I have it a part for resealing? The two diesel repair shop "close" to me said they'd charge a minimum $600 for calibration, so hopefully that is not needed.

Thank you for any help at all,
Josh

Norbetmic, I run the Bosch pump that came on the 1.6 turbo diesel.  I am not sure how the Fass system can deliver a specific amount of fuel to the nozzles.  Or is it more of a prefilter in place of the one that comes on the car?

ORCoaster, I'm not following you? Is there a post that was deleted that you were replying to?

I believe this is what he was trying to run:

cgi2099,
why run such advanced electronics on an mTDI? I've seen two all-mechanical VNT control devices that have worked out very well.  And dozens of wastegated turbo mTDI engines that have worked out incredibly well.

As far as the pump, 500,000km is a fair bit of use, that's about 310,000 miles, but The VE pump on my current daily driver has 255,000 original miles on it, & my previous Bosch VE mechanical pump daily driver had 342,000 miles. Both have given me no troubles.   If concerned, are you comfortable tearing into the pump to inspect it? Just doing a reseal job isn't a bad job at all.
Verlin Martin's performance diesel shop in West Virginia might be able to inspect and reseal your pump for cheaper than your local quote if you aren't comfortable doing it yourself. Where are you located?

I think the post was removed that I was replying to.  Something about what pump do we generally run.  OP had a reference to a couple of systems and Fass was one of those.  I looked it up and it was a filtration system not a IP so I was just mentioning that I use what VW installed and not some fancy pants, likely high priced, filter system.

Not sure why some of my posts have disappeared, I have moved most of my questions here:

Since this post I had received the wrong pump but have a low mileage LR pump coming but don't know if it is from a 200 or 300. I don't have any problems tearing into the pump, I am just concerned with calibrating the pump after. I have watched videos but they all seem to be using some bench device that looks extremely expensive. I already have two seal kits on hand for the LR 200/300 and a new throttle lever & bushing.

The digibooster was just highly recommended from tdiclub people next to just swapping factory electronics from the donor but I am wanting to be as mechanical as possible. The turbo I have is a GTC1549vz and is supposed to spool extremely quick (quicker than the factory vnt 15 and can support ~200hp), I'm not sure if there is a mechanical VNT device that would control this but that would be awesome if I could. I think the digibooster just uses the N75 valve and a map senor to function.

I live in southeastern Oklahoma

I can't remember what I was asking here. I think maybe I was asking about what diesel filter & separator everyone is using or if the factory is just fine? I am really just shooting for longevity and 150-160hp.

Ha, wasn't that one of your early teardown pictures at the top of the post Andrew?

Haha yeah, I made it into a pdf file myself, just to save on my computer for ease of sending out to people with these types of questions, as well as to have for reference myself.
