1985 vw golf windshield seals?
« on: September 08, 2021, 08:51:08 am »
So I have to replace the windshield on my 1985 Golf. Were these a rope-in style or glue-in style? Was the glass different between the 2?

I think they are all glue-in.
They started glueing them in with the '83 rabbit.
and I think all the MK2s  are glued in.
Tornado red, '91 Golf 4 door,
with a re-ringed, '84 quantum, turbo diesel, MD block

Safelite installed my glass but the skinny aftermarket seal I bought years ago was a bit too big and they had to cut it to make it fit. For anyone replacing the windshield the correct molding part # is 176 845 183 and is still available

Hello, I think that they are all stuck together because from 1983 or 1984 they started to produce them and now every car has stuck together, it is definitely better than these gaskets, at least for me it is much easier to replace the windshield
