The 1-notch AAZ gaskets are still available.  I believe both 028103383BB and 028103383BH are interchange #s for the 1-notch AAZ gasket.

Ah, yes Fatmobile - that info helps! And Libby - I just found an Elring HG on RockAuto. Thanks for the part number! Everyone else says they are NLA... nice to see they exist.

The one notch fiber HG that FCP sent me looks like a snake -- whoever packed it up sent it unprotected in the bottom of the box! So needless to say I'm not thrilled to run that one.

Got the one notch MLS gasket like 16 hours after I ordered it.

I've never seen anything like this before -- literally multiple thin layers of steel not fully bonded? Was surprised at first and thought it was delaminated. I also noticed there are no additional gaskets around oil holes or anything.

Should I add any additional sealant to the gasket? Hylomar spray? Hylomar tube? Going to install this weekend!

I do a very light coating of hylomar spray (not the tube) on both surfaces of the gasket, the block, and the head.

 and he means light.
Especially if you are doing the head and block too.
Don't spray the whole thing blue.
Hylomar doesn't harden and will spread/squeeze out when torqued.

I Second on the go light spray with it.  You don't need a gob of it, just a very light coat.

Make that VW engine feel like a Royal Royce.  Just add Hylomar.

You know I looked back at some old threads and saw your testimonial on using hylomar, but I couldn't be sure you meant on MLS gaskets too.

Thanks again everyone -- I'll do a light spray on everything and bolt everything up!

Appreciate y'all.
