Exhaust advice for 1.6na
« on: September 21, 2020, 08:40:07 am »
I am looking to improve my 1.6 na exhaust with a dual outlet manifold and downpipe.  I am also looking at upgrading the whole system to 2 inches.  So, TT has the 2 inch system, but "cat back".  What do I put in the gap between the down pipe (3 bolt flange) and the front end of the TT piping?  Is the old flex pipe for the 70's rabbit a good idea/start?  It looks like that will bolt up fine to the downpipes, but what about flow?  I know I need a flexible joint in there somewhere.  Thanks in advance!

I went with 2.25 inch pipe on my Rabbit when I changed from that straw of an exhaust system that comes stock.

Put a flex pipe in between that 3 hole flange and the pipes you are upsizing to.

You will be surprised how much difference it makes on power and mileage.  But having the extra power response sorta steals away from the improved mileage.  You have to control the foot.  And who does that?

A stock one might be 1.5 inch.
But there are alot of flex sections available that are 2".

I'd save the 2.25" for a turbo diesel.
So if you might turbo it later...
you might go for the 2.25 with the bosal muffler if they still sell it.
I put it on a friends and it sounded so nice, not too loud but could still hear the turbo.
