Jingle Bell Squeak
« on: August 29, 2006, 03:12:01 pm »
My 1.9 has started to make a squeak from under the timing belt cover.  Only when it is warm and it sounds like some one has those jingle bells you hear at christmas time.  Yah I know it is a bad description.  Can the tensioner cause this?  I know I am going to have to do the belt and upgrade the keyway at the same time.  Any input would be helpful.

My 1.6TD sounded like that when the 2 halves of the tensioner seperated at the spot welds.  Noise was the inner piece rattling around.  I woudnt drive it far until you know what that noise is!  Getting the timing cover off is only a couple minutes work.
