injector size diference...?

i bought and install new injectors with GTP nozzles in my 94 TD... the car runs smooth and does not smoke as much as before. but absolutely no power gains. when installing i noticed that the new injectors that i got are shorter, my old injector body is longer. Is that why i got no power gains? that sucks...

the new injectors does come pressure tested...

You've got the single stage injectors installed instead of the longer dual stage ones.

I don't know if it would make any difference to power or not.

The difference between the gtd nozzles and stock, if any, is negligable. I have tried both on several occasions pop tested the same, both brand new nozzles and noticed no difference in power. As far as single stage vs, dual stage, not too much advantage for power, unless you spend the time tuning them and you have access to your own pop tester. Really for the average guy they are just gonna be a bit smoother, not much but it is slightly noticable.

Did you really get GTD nozzles? When I install them the idle goes to 2500-3000 rpm right away, big power difference too. If you did not need to adjust anything somebody is pulling your leg about them being GTD...
Did you send in your cores or buy outright??

They are real GTD nozzles, I install them myself, using a pop tester. The reason you find a large power difference would be after installing new gtd nozzles in comparison to the original worn out ones. IF you compare BRAND new stock nozzles and BRAND new GTD nozzles you will notice no difference.

I can personally attest to that. I tried the following:

1) Brand new original OEM (factory) injectors (complete) - driven roughly 0 to 5,000km, and
2) Used injectors with brand new GTD nozzles - balanced & pop tested - driven roughly 0 to 5,000km.

I switched between both sets a couple times. With the GTDs I had less power (quite noticable when driving, and my G-Tech confirmed 5-10HP less).

The GTDs didn't smoke less either. I probably just had a bad set of GTDs or a golden set of OEMs. Or it's probably because of the old injector bodies the GTD nozzles went in.. if that makes any difference. Pop-testing said the GTDs looked fine though. Regardless, it's safer for me to say that GTDs didn't make a difference in my case.

I'd buy new nozzles only if my current nozzles are worn. I'll keep the OEMs and I'll probably only try custom nozzles including Dieselicious' next time.

The fact that the engine smokes less and runs smoother is good; your new nozzles are working more efficiently than your older ones. Considering the price of GTD nozzles you can't go wrong. The brand new genuine Bosch OEM injectors I got cost me around $265 CAD for a set of 4.

You probably will notice an improvement in fuel economy, and less smoke means there's room for more power (more fuel). Turn up the fueling until you smoke a little like you used to and have fun!
