Could someone post what heir RPM's are at say 60 MPH and 75MPH?
I am thinking of swapping a diesel into my auto Montero and need to see if the engine speed in top gear is condusive to a diesel powerband. Currently I see about 2400 @ 60 and just over 3000 @ 75.
I know there are other considerations with the tranny and the torque converter but I will deal with these later. The good news is the tranny has a mechanical (cable) kickdown instead of electronic. I just don't know about the lockup on the TC.
Thanks
Bernie
I drive a 97 1.9TD jettta with a 020 tranny and my RPM's is around 3000 at 60mph/100kms in fifth gear.

Dang that seems high. My FF code transmission does ~2600rpm @ 65mph and a titch over 3000rpm @ 75mph.
You can see what some of the various VW trannies do here:

There is a .68 that you can get from somewhere. There was a thread on it on VWVortex but their forums just got messed up so it may be gone.
