I would like to remove the hose between my cam breather and the turbo intake pipe in order to have space to run a aftermarket intercooler hose.
I have no crank vent on my GTD?
What are the options for removing the pipe? can I just put a filter over it or will I choke on the fumes?

its mainly bad for the environment. if you have real bad blowby then it might choke you out...
You'd probsbly also end up with oil everywhere.

It's not just covered by a blockoff plate that can be removed with two screws or bolts?
You could do as some racers do and run the crankcase vent into a catchcan.
I've seen some people use a motor oil bottle strapped some place. Kind of temporary, but it's cheap and most have a built in "window" on the side to check the level.
For a more sophisticated solution, you could either make your own from some tubing, adding a little wire mesh filter up top, baffles and a drain fitting at the bottom, or you could shop something like that from a place like Summit Racing...
veeman is on track,,i have removed the stock pipe before, and added a longer one,and put it in the wheelwell,so fumes arent so bad
or even add a catch can too, to this setup..
do you have a cam shield? this will help cut down on the amount of oil splashed into the pipe, and lost out the breather..
also,do you have that round hockey puck lookin thing in the valve cover that the hose attatches to? that helps cut down on oil loss.......
you could add a "balance pipe" to the spot where the "fuel pump " boss is(this is where the older diesels had a hose attatched to the vacuum pump)
link this "hose boss" to the orig hose on the v/c with a tee fitting......
you may need to remove the block off plate, and drill it out to weld a hose nipple to it
i agree, get the hose off ,so the fumes arent directed to the intake,it makes gunk in the intake and turbo
hope i wasnt rambling too much, and you can understand this, ive gotta run out and do stuff for the day,so im in a hurry,i can answer questions about this post later if i confused you.
im trying to get better
when i post i just throw out ideas ,and my style of posting is sometimes hard to follow, just dont rip me up,i can re-explain if needed
Here is my just-added mod.
quit showing us that purty engine! I could never drive that, I'd have to spill oil on it so I knew it was a VW!
