Here is my situation,
I am building a mechanical TDI caddy. and I want to put some 195x60R13's on it for handling, upper and lower strut bar supports, sway bars front and rear.
what brand of tires do you guys use? for daily driving but love to autocross as well, I think that i am leaning towards some sumitmotos or something like that
what transmission should I use? I have an FF or FN and a 4a. which one is stronger for the torque of the TDI and what are each ones weak points so that I can fix them, I like the 4a better but i dont know the week points.
thanks for the help
Justin
I think the best you can do in that size tire is the Sumitomo HTR 200. That's probably Ok, as I've heard nothing but good about them, and they're the right price. Hoosier also makes something for racing but they're $150 a piece. If you want to go lower profile, I think Dunlop makes some nice ones:

diff rivits could be an issue
replace those rivits and get a bolt kit
research your ratios between the 3 trannys you have, and pick the one that has the "tallest" gears,or would give the most speed
ive had a 7a behind my tdi,and its one of the tallest
and 1st is still short,i can take off in 2nd easy
my 7a was acting up so i put in a ach
now im in 5th before im hittin 60  way too short
peloquin 80% poor man's diff if you can find the right kit.
http://peloquins.comI have that kit on my 01M 4spd auto
you CAN run a 80% kit too, with the 90mm cv's too,you need to grind the end of the driveshaft a little and peloquin said "dont have it lowered more than in inch or 2"
if you are doing a tdi,or even a td,find the "tallest" box ya can
