Hello everyone, summer is here and I am getting ready to start gathering parts for my 1.6 rebuild. I am rebuilding the 1992 1.6L ecodiesel engine I swapped into my 89 Jetta. I am going to put new pistons, rings, bearings etc. in the bottom end. I am also having the head rebuilt and I hope to have some port and polish work done to the head as well. I am thinking about getting the stage 2 camshaft from passenger performance which means I will have to upgrade to the"real" turbo injector pump with the LDA. What I am wondering is if the small ecodiesel turbo I have will be ok with these upgrades ( I am going to rebuild the turbo of course) and if these upgrades are going to destroy the 47mpg I am getting out of it now. I know the upgrades will hurt economy some but I don’t really plan on racing around in the car but I would like to have a little extra power when/if needed. Thanks for the input.
