B1 Dasher smoke

(1/1)

pdx650:
Every day is a smoke tale. I just floor it and driver sget our from behind me or back way the hell up!! 😆

libbydiesel:
An 1/8th or 1/4 out with the max fuel screw might help fix that.  You might also try advancing your timing a little.

ORCoaster:
Is the smoke black and comes out only when floored?  You can adjust the fuel going into the injectors and stop that.  If it is more of a bluish tint to it then you may be looking at rebuilding the engine pistons and rings.  How easy does it start?

Do you have a way to check for compression?  Do you notice high oil consumption?  Remember check oil when refueling...I think it is written on the label that surrounds the fuel filler hole.

Are you even asking for assistance here or just stating the facts as you look up to them mirror?

Twiss:
What's the oil consumption you would call "alarming" in a case like this, ORCoaster?

ORCoaster:
If you are checking the consumption at each fill up of diesel that would likely be on a 350 or 400 mile cycle.  Depending on tank size.  IF you find that you are a quart low at two tanks of fuel you are burning too much oil.  I don't burn but 1 qt during a 3,000 mile oil and filter change on my 1.6 that has been rebuilt.

I just swapped those items last weekend and I poured the old oil into an older gallon jug and I would say I put all of the gallon in there.  That would mean my oil I put in the filter and topped off with, about 1/2 qt is what I burned in that time.

Hope that gives you some perspective.
