While I'm not a member of that forum, I read the entire Charlie Wenzel thread on there, and I am totally unsurprised by how they are there.

I prefer 4X4wire.com for my old '86 Toy PU myself.
Pirate is known for Toyota experts, but they tend to bash beginners I hear.
Anyhow just my .02

Those guy's were tools. Plain red-neck tools. I agree with the spelling and punctuation bit, but most people on forums complain about the lack of newbies using the search function. That thread seems to be the opposite.
I dunno, lose lose situation I guess.

No, they complain about the lack of newbies paying them money. There's a difference.

4x4wire.com has worked great for me. But I'm only into toyota's, They seem to have less people with other trucks.

I have been a member of Pirate4x4.com for long time many years, I was there b4 the great crash, but didn't renew "quick enough" I read alot but dont post much. It very much is the culture there "it is the most HARDCORE 4x4 fourm out there and as such they dont like newbie questions, however it is a great resource of information on anything 4wd, if you can dream it there is a good chance that someone there has built it. It is esspetially good when the search is working. Pretty much if you realize that you will be flamed for the first 100 posts or so and just go with it you will be fine, they love to prey on those that give them a good reaction. No reaction or one that goes with what they say puts the fire out real fast. Any way I dont need to defend it they have 75,000+ members including many big race teams and some tv personalities, and I personally kinda like there.
Sometimes everyone gets frusterated ansering the same questions over and over. We have a decent faq here that most people read, they have some amazingly indepth faq's there but no one seems to read them, they just post and ask... anyway I have made my point no need to beat the perverbial horse.

I forgot to say that your title is misleading. It is not another forum gone bad, it has "ALWAYS" been that way and infact in the last couple years gotten alot softer in my perception.
