AAZ oil temperature
« on: May 29, 2018, 07:57:55 pm »
I got around to installing a couple gauges in the truck and one of them was oil temp.  Thus far, I知 running the AAZ as NA with a modified 1.6 pump, standard 1.6 injectors and timing set to .95mm, if that matters.

When cold, oil pressure is around 80psi and slowly drops as temperatures increase.  At 200ーF, oil pressure is around 20psi, at idle. At 240ー, oil pressure drops to 10psi, at idle.

240ーF is a lot higher than I知 used to seeing.  I知 comparing this to my TDIs, and old gassers, which are very different engines, but wondering if this is normal.  Coolant temperature reads normal.

Numbers make sense.  Hot oil comes from being next to cylinders and no cooler attached to the oil filter.  Might want to throw one on there.  Uses water temp to take away some of that heat.

I should have searched, before posting... I saw my numbers are somewhat normal.

I値l be going with the traditional oil cooler setup.  I wasted time last night and tried to install a euro GTI setup that I ran on a 3A bubble block, a lifetime ago.  Found out the block flange was different, so I wasted a few hours and a gasket.

I ended up ordering fittings for a Volvo sandwich plate and heat exchanger, so I値l revisit when everything arrives.
