Broke aaz vacuum pump plastic hose connector
« on: April 13, 2018, 12:25:46 am »
I accidentally broke the plastic connector on top of my aaz vacuum pump.  Is this plastic part replaceable?

If so what's the part number and where would I buy it?

If not should I look for a used top cover or look for a whole used vacuum pump? Would a later pump from an AHU or ALH work?

Thanks in advance...

The AAZ, AHU, and 1Z vacuum pumps are the same.  ALH vac pump is totally different - it bolts onto the end of the camshaft.  You could replace the lid.  I'm not sure, but I think a lid from the 1.6 rotary pump would work.  I've also repaired several by tapping the lid to 1/8" NPT and installing a brass check valve and then a brass nipple to adapt to the correct hose size.

Thank you for the suggestions.  The repair tip with a brass fitting is pure genius. I'll try that

I have drilled and tapped the top of the lid to accept a standard hose fitting on mine and used the check valve at the booster.  Works perfect, I also have a gauge on the line for determining vacuum.  Though I had a loss there but just have crappy brakes or Master Cylinder.
