Anyone done water/meth injection on an AAZ?
« on: April 12, 2018, 10:38:22 am »
While my EGTs rarely hit 1300 F, I plan on pulling a motorcycle behind the already heavy VW camper van. Last week my wife and I took a trip from San Diego to Barstow (high desert) and my water temps went into the 220 range a few times. Had I been pulling a 1000 lb trailer and been loaded with camping gear (including a kayak), it would have been either a white knuckle, or much slower trip.
Several years ago I began gathering bits to build a water/meth injection system but ended up putting it all in a box and storing it away. I got the box down the other day and realized I had pretty much everything I need to install a system.
12V pump, 200 psi, 1 GPM.
2 - .043 GPM atomizing nozzles
2 - adjustable 12V pressure switches (which would tap into boost line)
2 - 12V NC stainless steel valves

I figure I will set one pressure switch to turn the pump on arou7nd 14 psi and open one valve at 15 psi. The other switch would open the second valve at 18 psi.
Total injection rate at 18 psi and above would be .083 GPM.
As far as where to inject, my set-up is pretty tight with the water to air inter-cooler almost directly connected to the intake. Wonder if I could inject BEFORE the IC?

Would appreciate any opinions - thanks
