FS: single .25 over main bearings
« on: March 07, 2018, 06:47:28 pm »
I had to buy a whole set of main .25 over main bearings.
Only needed 2 shells for the center bearing because the 1-piece center bearing was too wide for the .25 over crank. They didn't machine the thrust surfaces .25 over.
I also have some used thrust washers for anyone in the same boat.

Arizona has Grants for $30.
Add another $18 and you get freight.
Anything less that this amount (being charged for Grants) is charity.

How abooot yer old buddy Jack?

Picked up a set of grants on ebay for $30 shipped.
I don't shop at autohaus anymore,.. since they screwed up my order and tried to make me pay to fix their mistake.
Standard piston rings aren't in as much demand as oversized,.. most of the standard pistons are worn out by now and the engine needs bored.
I was hoping someone had a set stuck on the shelf that they would never use for the $30.
Probably is but I don't really have time to wait a week.

Got some Grant rings and they fit great.
The crank in the engine had a bad spot and would have needed ground.
So I put in another crank that is .25 over,... all except for the thrust areas. Which won't fit over the one-piece center main bearing,... aaarg.
So I need one .25 over main bearing and I'll use the separate thrust washers.
Better to use the 3-piece main bearing anyway.
