I have new injectors, fuel filter, air filter, fuel turned up, boost turned up, good air in my tires, good alignment etc, but even if i baby it or highway, i've only been getting 650km/tank lately, 700 if i'm lucky. (6-6.80L/100km average)
Ever since i got the car, the guage on the dash has sat at less than 70 degrees celcius, unless i was giving it good, then stopped in traffic.
Installed a new thermostat, old one that came out looked like hte rubber seals were worn out, marked 87 degrees, new one went in 87 degrees, car now reaches almost to the middle, usualy 1 notch away, idle sounds a lot nicer. The guage should read straight up at the 90 degree mark.
Tomorrow, new coolant sensor, i'll report back, i'm hoping to get my milage up to 800 per tank at least. (42L fill aprox)
on another note, i have 2 sensors on that coolant flange off the engine, a brown one, and a black with a green stripe, the etka says hte brown is for an automatic, the car is a 5 speed, any idea guys?
My 5 speed has both hooked up.
Hmm, 6-6.8L/100Km (35-40 MPG US) sounds about right for an automatic. Is that what you have?
I had one of those engines. While it produced nice power, I never got any amount of mileage from it. Now, with the 1.6 TD Bunnytruck, I note that it is significantly better.

Hey Cheesetoat-
I can't speak for sure regarding your car, but at least on the rabbits one sensor is for the engine temp gauge and the other provides imput into the glow plug system so that they can cycle for a less amount of time or not at all if the engine is warm. Supposedly they are interchangable and I've had mine hooked up both ways and not noticed anything strange.
I hope this helps.
