Intercooler for Mk2 GTD
« on: July 31, 2017, 11:29:17 am »
Hey there, I just want your opinion on installing an intercooler from a BMW into my Golf.

Shoul I use the stock one, or apply one from an BMW/Mini Cooper that I found on extremelly low price ? This is almost like the one I have at home:

The car has the AAZ with K14, no CAT, stock size exhaust, 11mm IP with BoostPin on LDA,

So... wich IC should give max performance (without throwing too much smoke though) and keep it reliable?

How much boost are you planning on running? Most intercooler with plastic end tanks can't stand up to much over 15 PSI or so.

Really you want the biggest IC you can fit, especially if you see climbing hills under boost or similar activities in your future. There's a small trade off with increased lag when you add more intercooler volume.

Well, the turbo is at stock settings doing 0.9Bar thanks to the IP with no intercooler installed, I was hoping reaching 1.3Bar with an IC, cause he's doing a little smoke on low RPM and heating a little bit
