1.6 NA Head Options??
« on: July 30, 2017, 03:43:09 pm »
Outside of replacing the entire engine, what are the options for replacing the head on a 1991 1.6 NA????

Are there other heads that would fit??

Specs below.

plenty of sources for a head, bare heads you should be able to find from $400, complete heads much more, if its not cheap.

A TD head will fit fine too, doesn't need to be an NA one. Any hydraulic 1.6 diesel head will fit - '86 or so through 1992.

I'm going stock. Do you have any reliable sources in mind?

If you're fine with a used one posting here in the Classified section is probably your best bet. If you want new then Parts Place, VWDieselParts.com...

The PartsPlace is just outside of Detroit. I'll be visiting there this summer and will take a look at their operation and maybe talk to their rebuilder.
