KSB reduces power when hooked up
« on: April 13, 2017, 06:22:50 pm »
My new pump had a KSB on the front of it and cold starts were horrible so I researched this thing and decided to put switched 12v power to it.

It dramatically helped cold starts (before it would take 3 good tries to keep it idling on its own now it's run glowplugs crank it over and feather the throttle til the exciter kicks on the alternator)

But now I have poor performance I used to be able to spool the Holset turbo up to 20psi easily now I have yet to see it come anywhere close to 10-15psi.

Everywhere I've read says it should increase power and MPG.

Should I just put it on a toggle switch instead? Or is something a miss here.

Can you post a photo of exactly what you have?

Some of those devices lock out the timing piston preventing it from adding advance as RPM increases.
