New Member...Howdy!
My 92 w/89 engine MK2 started running badly, then required an electric fuel pump boost, and now won't run at all. Ran good when it ran. Someone gave me a gasser, so I've been lazy driving that.
Now that CO2 and warming is an issue, and there's not a lot of leadership to help out, it's on me to run a homerew biodiesel car again. I've been running 300SD's and a 524TD in the past...I like Bosch.
So, pulled the pump, and plan to go through it. Got numbers off the case.
Where's the best, most complete kit source, so that I can do it all? Maybe a choice for higher performance? Viton essential.

Running a diesel engine off vegetable oil does keep the dino oil consumption down but it still produces a carbon footprint. Just so you know if you really want to change things you have to give up the powered by fuel engine for something self powered or solar. Those energy sources come free for the taking.
Global warming and CO2 are not linked: 4 previous ice ages had nothing to do with CO2 - or man.
Man releases about 5.5X10**20 joules (J) of energy annually by burning the 1 cubic mile of oil, and the coal, natural gas, wind, solar, hydro, biomass, etc., annually. Sunlight reaching earth is estimated at 5.5X10**24 joules; 10,000 times as much energy. Variability in the sun's output, the earth's orbit of the sun, and wobble in its spin, etc., are much greater magnitude factors of variability so don't worry about modern Anthropocene effects. The joules statistics above from Princeton University's physics dept. or wikipedia:

And yes, I am an actual rocket scientist, hence the Rock3tman moniker. Fueled either by dino- or bio-, drive on like you are...sensibly in a VW IDI/TDI diesel.
Yeaaaah no. This is not a forum for debating climate change, claimed rocket scientist or not. I'll lock the thread if it goes any further.

ccaissie, If you plan on running alternative fuels remember to change some of the other parts of the fuel system as well. Home brew biodiesel is your choice? Or the more basic Waste Vegetable oil? I ran WVO and have the flat plate heat exchangers for heating the oil in the tank and then again just prior to delivery to the IP. Hot filters better along the way as well.
